The Panamanian Agricultural Ministry has chosen e-Citiz as a platform to computerize its processes, specifically between the ministry and local farmers. Genigraph-Softeam, along with its local partner, dChain, is going to carry out the computerization process.
The platform has been designed for operators at different ministry levels: from local agencies and regional offices to national offices and the ministry itself.
Different processes have already been identified and are in the process of being computerized.
One of these involves agricultural production management. Agents are in charge of visiting farms to take an inventory of plots and gather diverse data related to them. The data is technical in nature but also contains financial or legal information, such as:
– Geographic location and type of seed and means used
– Planned surface area, planted surface area, and harvested surface area
– Number of harvests per year and if the crop is permanent or temporary
– Production, yield, production destination, loss, and irrigation source
– Financial loans and insurance
The inventory will help create a database allowing Panamanian farmers perform different administrative steps electronically. This will both simplify these steps for farmers and facilitate the formation of the government’s agricultural policy.
e-Citiz is planning to computerize other processes involving animal production inventory.
